The countdown has begun for the 2012 NRMFA season . We are just hours away from the first practices of the season. As you know we have made a number of changes for the upcoming year which we believe will make for an exciting season. One major change will occur on game day May 27th we have secured the only two turf fields for football in the area for our opening games . This means that all opening day games will be played on turf which for most players will be a very unique experience . An extra bonus for the Kiwanis field games will be the unveiling of our new sound system , as well as a BBQ fundraiser .

This year we have an odd number of teams in our Bantam division which will affect the number of home games some teams will have, this is unavoidable and we have attempted to balance the schedule as much as possible within the parameters of available fields, teams and referees.

I would like to remind all of you about our strict code of conduct . We take very seriously the proper behavior of our coaches, parents and players both on the sideline and on the field. Each year I receive emails from parents about parents who like to follow their team up and down the field cheering them on ,of course I applaud your enthusiasm but standing in front of fans  who have taken the time to come early and to get a good vantage point displays poor sportsmanship . Lets all be respectful of all fans regardless of which team you cheer for. I would also like to bring to your attention that the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the parking lot or on the sideline is strictly forbidden, the mixing of a contact sport with alcohol is a bad idea. Individuals run the risk of being banned from fields as well as potentially causing NRMFA to lose our permits, so please give serious thought to bringing alcohol to the game

Good Day Players, Parents and Fans of NRMFA , the executives of the League will begin attending meetings very soon for the upcoming 2012 season . We look forward to another exciting season of tackle football. Each year presents many challenges , from achieving the right number of players to balancing the level of talent on all teams, our goal is to make sure all players despite their talent level enjoy a positive and fulfilling experience of a great team sport.

This year we will be putting in place a few changes that we hope will enhance the experience for all parties . First we have brought on several new volunteers , I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Ed Telenko who will be our In House Photographer . As well as providing great shots of games and NRMFA activities Ed will screen other parents who will be allowed to venture to the player side of the field to take action shots from the players perspective .  Only those who have been vetted by Ed and are wearing NRMFA credentials will be allowed on the player side of the field , all other fans must refrain from interacting with the players and coaches during the game . Our next new volunteer is Andrea Szyjka , Andrea is our Fundraising Coordinator her goal will be to bring exciting new ventures for NRMFA that will assist the league in building up our funds for new equipment as well as providing extra monies for those who find it a challenge to enlist their children in sports activities . Another new face at the table will be Nicole Crawford , Nicole has accepted the role of Communications Coordinator. Her function will be to interact with the print, digital and visual media. We hope the result will be that NRMFA will obtain some positive media attention which in turn will help the league grow Moving forward with a big new group is the 4 new volunteers from St Catharine’s these gentlemen have been part of NRMFA for some time now as coaches and have decided to step up and take on more responsibility for the league as a whole , well done gentlemen, the individuals (Glenn Neilson , John Passero ,Marcus Stake and Doug Fusek) will be a great asset to NRMFA.Last and I can assure you not least is Dino Collini , Dino is our new Niagara Falls Director . A Directors role is to make sure his city centre works like a well oiled machine , Directors have their hands full all season long . I’m sure you join me and the rest of the executive in welcoming these volunteers and wishing them good luck during the upcoming season.Â

The biggest change this year will take place away from the field and several weeks prior to the season beginning. We will be requiring ALL Coaches regardless of how long they have been with NRMFA to attend a MANDATORY coaches clinic . Failure to attend will result in not being allowed to coach in our league . We feel that certain standards are necessary to provide a positive football experience for all our players , parents and fans .

Despite bringing on many new faces this year we are still short a Web site coordinator , this individual would work with our Smithville Director in maintaining our Facebook, Twitter and  Web site functions . Intrested individuals may contact me ( John Fisher )thru our Gmail account

I want to thank you for your time and remind you to check our site for upcoming information regarding registrations .
